So this has to be the absolute worst part of anything, waiting…waiting…waiting…

Earlier this week, I randomly got an email from the school I had interviewed with, and done a demo lesson for back in like November. The first position was for a combination fifth grade and seventh grade position. I didn’t really want it, so when they called to tell me that they had chosen someone who had ten years of experience in middle school, I was ok with not getting it. They also told me that before I accept a position anywhere else to call them again because they are definitely interested in having me join the faculty there at some point. They also told me that in the spring they would have a position in second grade which would be opening up, and this position really interested me. Two weeks later, I got a call from them asking if I would be interested in a long term substitute position, though they couldn’t tell me if it would be for the rest of the year, or how long the position would go. I unfortunately had to turn them down considering I couldn’t leave my full time job for a temporary position. I figured at that point that I had burned my bridges.

So like I said, randomly, I got an email asking for me to come in this week and do another demo lesson for them, this time for the second grade position. They even mentioned in the email that understanding, if selected, I would be leaving a full time position, that they would hire me on as a full time teacher. So, I went today, I did my lesson, and I’m pretty confident that I did well, but now I’m playing the waiting game. I know that there are four of us in the running, and that makes me more nervous. I know that I was their second choice for the first position, first for the second, but now, I am thrown back in the pot with a group again. So, hopefully this will lead to a position, but I’m not going to hold my breath…

Jeremy went to his aunt’s to work on a computer today. Being the cruel person that he is, he did not tell me that there were puppies there, and instead sent me a picture of him holding a baby basset hound. Now I want one, it only seems fair considering the deal was that I was to be able to get a dog at Christmas this year and I didn’t….who is with me?? Bring on the baby basset hound that’ll eventually trip over it’s own ears! It’s cute and it’ll be great entertainment!

Well its been an exciting week so far. At my place, we got 21″ this weekend with an additional 4″ last night and its still snowing. Atleast I only lost 3 pine trees, 2 trees in the front of my house and the shrubs along the side of my driveway. I think I’ve shoveled more snow this week then I have all together to this day. I remember back when I was a kid. Having this much snow was awesome… well it still is but now i have to deal with the crappy city drivers. I mean on Monday there was a guy in a little Hyundai taking the alley behind my work (going the wrong way on a one-way street) which easily had a foot of snow on it. He made it about 5 foot and got stuck. Then needed help from 4 guys to push him out. Really, where is the common sense anymore. Oh look the snow is higher then my hood, I can make that with no problem *sigh*

Anyway back to shoveling… my grams driveway was the worst.

I landed up shoveling snow from 7:30AM to about 3PM on Saturday.

What my deck looked like Saturday morning when I woke up

The somewhat pretty view from the front window

The roads in Pittsburgh are pretty crappy too. I can’t imagine how bad that would be today.

Ofcourse I had to try to climb the snow piles at work..

If you have a website and willing to pay a little for hosting I can probably host it for you, just let me know.

For some unknown reason things are really irritating me today. From big jeeps that I can’t park to people talking about the freakin’ groundhog…it’s been an interesting and irritating morning.

Jeremy (love you, hun) needed my car today, so I had to drive the jeep. Which isn’t that big of a deal, however, I have learned one thing. Short people shouldn’t drive lifted jeeps. One, I can barely see over the steering wheel….even with the seat elevated to as high as I can take it up. Two, I swear to god, it’s as wide as a damn mack truck! It took me four (yes, four!) tries to get it into a parking space at work. Everyone got a kick outta that, but in the end, I didn’t hit anything, and I, for the most part, am in the space straight. (Aren’t you proud, hun?)

I come into the building, and everyone is like walking on eggshells around me. Yes, my niece just passed away, but I’m coping. No need to treat me like I have a disease, especially since it’s not my first day back to work. Finally, a coworker pulls me aside and asks if I’m ok to go back to my office. I look at her like she’s nuts, and say, yeah, I’m fine. She said well, I just want to warn you, I decorated the office for Ben (his son was born last week). Now I know she’s nuts, because I was here when she decorated the damn thing. She even asked me permission on Friday. Seriously, can you not remember that, I mean, considering you made such a big deal out of it, I would think you could.

After getting into my office, I decided to finally get back to everyone that left voicemails on my work phone. So…I start playing back the messages. Out of thirteen message, eleven were hang ups. I was pretty grateful for that, however, if you knew our phone system, you would be irritated too. Hearing that cheery “if you’d like to save this message press 1, to forward press 2, to delete press 3…..” It’s amazing that there are sooooo many options just for a freakin’ voicemail! I just wanted to delete them, and each time, I had to listen to the entire list of my options because the phone is dumb. But hey, technology is awesome isn’t it? BAH!

Last but not least, apparently because I’m a child care director, I’m suppose to care about Groundhog’s Day? I have had three (not one, not two, but THREE!) people ask me what my prediction is, and about how much I love Groundhog’s Day! Seriously, the one went on for like ten minutes about how cute the groundhog is, and how she couldn’t wait to see him on tv. I told her she should just drive to Punxsutawney any time during the year, and she can see him at the library. She ignored my comment (and the fact that I didn’t stop doing my work to pay attention to her talking) and kept going on about Mr. Phil! I couldn’t take it anymore, so I looked at her, smiled and said, the stupid groundhog is just an overgrown rat with a hairy tail that I’d like to run over with my car.

She turned around and walked away. Mission accomplished, now lets hope that people leave me alone for awhile!

Well tonight I played a very interesting game called Dirty Minds. The dirtier the mind you have, the worse you will be at playing Dirty Minds because all of the answers are clean! With that said, during this game they give you perverted clues to obtain a clean answer. Here are two examples from the game.

I vibrate
I’m a lot of fun between your legs.
I can handle two at a time.

The correct answer would be motorcycle.

I hardly ever pull out in time.
I penetrate dark tunnels
When I’m coming, I blow

The correct answer would be Train

It may seem a little dumb while reading this now but it honestly is one of the better games I’ve played. The whole trying to collect the cards to spell out DIRTY was a little annoying though so we landed up just playing without them. This would be a very awkward game to play with lets say your parents or someone who is uncomfortable with perverted humor… but then again they would supposedly win.

So, now, as I sit here avoiding it for a few more minutes, I’m wondering what professors are really thinking as they write online graduate courses. I have to set up classroom visitations as well as a bunch of other stuff that requires me to take time away from work to go to a classroom during the day. Seriously, I understand that some people in this class are teachers and have access to the kids in their classrooms daily anyway, but for those of us with other full time jobs, it doesn’t exactly work. Plus, the whole point of taking them online is to attempt to work full time and to work on my masters. Anyway, off to attempt to get a few assignments done.

So today I decided that the new faster E6500 would replace my D830 instead of setting it up for another employee. It was like Christmas, I installed Windows and copied my profile over to the new machine. Everything that I did to make it one step closer to being finished made me more excited. I cleaned my desk and ran the wires nicely to my new docking station, I was thrilled to have a new laptop. That was until I plugged it in and actually went to use it. This computer reminds me of Windows 3.1 on a computer that didn’t have enough memory. Every time you go to move the mouse its like playing a game… is it possible to get this jumpy mouse pointer across the screen before smashing something on my desk out of anger. Who would every think that a 2.66 GHZ processor and 3.5 GB of RAM would be so slow… Oh yea and where the hell is the serial port?!?! Really… first it was the floppy drive that they removed, now the serial port.. but hey it has 7 USB ports on it!!
